Put the important agent alerts in Slack.
Send Connect notices to a Slack channel your team watches. A Slack incoming webhook lets Connect post updates; it does not give Connect permission to browse your workspace.
For teams that coordinate in Slack and want approval requests and other important Connect events to reach a channel they already monitor.
Create a Slack incoming webhook
Slack requires an incoming webhook tied to the channel where reviewers can act.
Choose the destination channel
Decide where approval requests and important mailbox notices should appear. The channel should be visible to the people expected to review them.
Create or open a Slack app
In Slack’s app settings, open an app for your workspace. Enable Incoming Webhooks, choose Add New Webhook to Workspace, select the channel, and authorize the app.
Copy the webhook address
Copy the generated
hooks.slack.com/services/...URL. Treat it like a password because anyone who has it can post to that channel.Add and test in Connect
Open the mailbox’s notification settings, add Slack, paste the webhook URL, and send a test notification. Confirm it appears in the intended channel before relying on it.
Slack receives notices, not a new control surface.
Connect uses the URL to post notifications to the channel you selected. It does not join the workspace as a bot, read channel messages, or approve mail on your behalf. Review or approve the underlying action in Connect.
- Keep webhook URLs in a restricted secret store and replace them if exposed.
- Use a channel where the responsible reviewers will see pending decisions.
- Email remains the owner alert path even when Slack is added.
Make the destination match the kind of review.
A release mailbox may belong in an operations channel; customer correspondence may need a smaller support group. Connect can route across the channels you configure using simultaneous delivery, fallback, or escalation rules.
- Use separate agent mailboxes when teams need different policies.
- Slack does not carry the full email body in notification messages.
- GovSlack webhook hosts are not accepted by the current Connect URL validator.
Slack webhook delivery and access
Does Stacksona read our Slack messages?
No. This integration sends notices through an incoming webhook URL. It does not grant channel history or message-reading permission.
Why does my Slack URL fail validation?
Connect accepts standard `hooks.slack.com/services/...` URLs. GovSlack uses a different host and is not supported by the current validator.
How can I tell if the channel is connected?
Send a test from Connect and confirm the post appears in the selected channel. A saved URL alone is not proof that the destination received it.
Route a Connect alert to Slack
Create a channel webhook, add it to the mailbox, and confirm delivery with a test.
